Our Client
Evine is a multi-channel video retailer and home shopping channel that delivers the ultimate interactive shopping experience. Looking to respond to an emerging mobile user market, Evine worked with Dom & Tom to create an augmented reality mobile iOS application that caters to their large customer-base of watch collectors.
The Goal
Evine is the second largest watch reseller, second only to Amazon. Their internal R&D department wanted to appeal to this target market by building a dedicated watch portal. Dom & Tom was tasked with creating an augmented reality mobile iOS application that caters to their large customer-base of watch collectors.
Leveraging FarQR technology, the customer can use their mobile device to scan a code on the television, and the app will then detect the customer’s wrist and project an augmented reality experience, including custom-made, 3D watch assets from Evine’s collection. This allows the user to virtually “try on” a watch; they can visualize the size, color, and details of the watch from the comfort of their own home. When they are ready to make a purchase, the customer can see the scanned watch on their mobile device and immediately make a purchase.

Our Plan & Process
The project was a collaboration with the internal Evine R&D department. Dom & Tom conducted independent research of various technologies and experimented with different ideas to come up with the best solution for the AR watch demonstration.
After detailed research and discovery, Dom & Tom used some of the latest emerging technologies available including Sodyo for FarQR and scanning and Xcode for iOS integration. Along with Maya, Substance Painter, Vuforia, and Unity.

The Results
Looking to be more than a home shopping channel, Evine is continually looking to push the boundaries of retail and has already integrated the point and scan technology into their mobile app. They have gone through one round of testing with success and are currently looking to allocate dedicated resources to build out a team and further develop the augmented reality watch and other shopping experiences for their tech-savvy customers.
